2017 is almost at a close, and as we say goodbye to this year, we’re preparing for next year with our 2018 New Year’s resolutions. Over the years, we’ve had a pretty varied list of ways to eat and be healthier: from walking more to getting five servings of fruits and vegetables, brown bagging lunch and reducing food waste. So, if you’re looking for health-focused New Year’s resolutions, check out what the Food Insight team plans to do next year.
2017 was the year I learned about intuitive eating, and with the help of a lot of our pieces I have been able to practice it more often. In 2018, my goal is to eat and move intuitively each day so I can remove any unnecessary stress around these areas of my life. |

I got married last summer and we were lucky enough to receive a bunch of cooking and baking-related registry gifts. My resolution is to put them to good use! I’m committing to trying at least 3 new recipes each month, and in doing so, I’m going to try to explore more out-of-the-ordinary fruits and vegetables that catch my eye at the grocery store or farmer’s market. |

I’m resolving to make my diet more sustainable. I try to be responsible about food waste, but still end up throwing a ton of food in the trash. This year I plan to practice what I preach. I’ll use strategies to not only reduce wasted food, but also prioritize reusable cups (just bought a spiffy new thermos!) and utensils. |

In 2017, we created quite a bit of resources around mindful eating, which has inspired me to read more about mindfulness in general. For 2018, I want to bring in mindfulness not only to my eating but also to day to day life. |

Last year, I began eating more sustainably by purchasing ugly fruits and vegetables. It feels good knowing that I’m reducing food waste by consuming produce that would’ve otherwise been thrown out. This year, I want to continue the trend by eating more plant-based, opting for vegetarian meals and alternatives. |

Living in the Eastern time zone and fanatically following my favorite sports teams (all of which play in Pacific or Mountain time zones) can make for some pretty late nights. In 2018, I resolve to get more sleep. My plan? Set a bed time and stick to it, no matter how close the game. Wish me luck! |
While our New Year’s resolutions are all different, one thing is certain. Small changes can and do make a big impact on our health.
